Golden Compass Hats

I was watching a movie a few nights ago called 'The Golden Compass' which I thoroughly enjoyed (I'm a real kid at heart). The hat worn by the little girl in the north really caught my eye. It looked so warm and snuggly. I decided to try my hand at knitting one. It took a bit of fiddling to finally get it right . Using various types of wool, I managed to get a variegated effect which is also really thick and warm. I ended up making two of them in different sizes as the first was a little small. They turned out good if I don't say so myself. I really like them ... maybe I'll make some more in different colours. You certainly can't get a warmer hat than this for your little girl.

Deer Ski Hat

I made a really cute ski hat the other night. It was supposed to be a wine colour with cream deer but after I started knitting I realized I wouldn't have enough wine wool so I made it in a stripe design in cream and wine and made the deer wine. I think it turned out really well. It looks a bit odd on my doll model as it's a bit too big for her but it really is a cute hat.

Hats Hats Hats

I love to knit .. especially children's hats. Recently, I've been searching through patterns trying to find really cute hats. It's been such fun that I'd like to share a few with you. These three I made last week ...

I also found a woman's hat pattern in an old book and thought I'd give it a whirl. It turned out better than I expected actually ...

What's really neat about this hat is that it's gathered at the top so if you have a pony tail you could pull it out the top of the hat.

Well, I'm off to find some more patterns ...

Backpacks for Back to School...

Well... August is here and it will go quickly. School days follow. Will your child be ready to go back. I am beginning to list delightful and functional backpacks for your child to carry back to school. Below is just a sampling. These backpacks are well made with double stitched straps and double stitched stress points. Why buy those plastic backpacks that will tear apart within a few weeks. My bags last for years and are completely washable. Just throw them in the washing machine in cold water and dry in a warm dryer. Below is a sampling... Please check out my eBay and Etsy sites. I'm sure you'll find something your child will love.

BARTHOLEMEW BUZZ BUMBLE BEE

I finally finished my crochet bee.... I call him Bartholemew Buzz Bumble Bee.
I started crocheting animals in the late winter and have really enjoyed it. My first two attempts were small Amigurumi bunnies and the next a small Amigurumi mouse. I then tried something larger and made a 15" bunny. My bee has taken me well over two months working on him bit by bit in the evening while I watch TV. I had such fun with him. His antennae are a little too big but it gives him charm and uniqueness. Now that he's done, I think I'll try something else. What do you think of him?
